slow network connection (3 posts)

I have just re-installed Windows XP and it now takes an extremely long time to fully boot up. The delay appears to be in the network connection to my other computer. I have checked and rechecked all the settings and all appear to be the same as the previous install of XP which booted fine. Can anyone help me please?

Re: slow network connection

Hypothesising in the absence of data - if you are running a crossover connection and this PC is the master, it is trying to get an ip address, but can't as the other PC is set to auto. You must enable internet connection sharing, which will set this PC to 192.168.0.1 and enable the other box to obtain an ip address. If this is not the situation, post back with network details.
