hp w1907 monitor doesn't light up (2 posts)

we have a hp w1907 monitor for a few years and now it only partially works. the image shows up but it is really dark. occasionally it will flicker on to full brightness, but most of the time it stays dark. is it the drivers or windows or is the monitor broken?

Backlight issue

It sounds like your backlight has stopped working, judging by how you can see images but they are not lit up. If you still under warranty, look to getting it repaired under your warranty terms.

If its not under warranty, you could look into the issue yourself, depending on your skill level. If you take your monitor apart, you should be able to see the backlight bulbs. Check if any of the wires are visibly detached or showing signs of being fried. If so, solder or replace the damaged wire and see if this fixes the issue.

Of course, if you have no experience meddling with electronics, you might be better off leaving this alone and look to replace your monitor with a new one.

Cheers.
