Operating Windows XP, I am having a problem of compatibility of a video down-load via NERO onto RW -CDROM's. None of my home DVD players (Samsung RW-, LG RW+-, all late model machines) will play what my burners produce, but they can be played in the burners/players on the computer without a problem. What 's wrong?
The videos are all downloaded from my SONY Cybershot on a folder, and then retrieved to NERO burning and then burnt on the RW disc. Any suggestions?

Re: CD burning compatability problem.........HELP!
Rewritable disks are for computer use. 99% of the time they can't be used in a commercial player. Use DVD-R / CD-R and all will be well.

I'm not 100% certain about this but try using a DVD-R or +R instead of a rewritable. Many forums about this problem talk about the incompatibility of DVD-RW's

If you don't find the answer try another burning application, DeepBurner and DVD Burner XP are free
Ashampoo Burning Studio 2007 works very well, Nero's bloatware IMHO :)

Re: CD burning compatability problem.........HELP!
Thanks to the 3 replies with suggestions. I have had a go with a DVD-R 8x 4.7GBby RiTEC without any luck. I have tried and bougt the Ashampoo Burning Studio 7 that seems to be the thing, except, unlike NERO burning room, Studio & has no bite indicator, and when I try to burn something like a combined 2.5GB on the DVD, the first stage of organizing stops or hangs after about 20 min. I have tried to ask Ashampoo about thia problem, and got the answer: try another DVD.
Not very helpful. I finally attempted to burn the DVD in stages, selecting smaller video sections from the folder, and was successful in thus burning all of the folder onto the DVD. But...... altoufg playing perfect ion the computer, placing the same DVD in any of my 3 latemodel DVD players connected to my TV, only about 4 out of 8 folders show as a selection and play, the other 4 are totally ignored by the players. Why ? All folders are downloaded from my little SONY cybershot on my computer using the same program, Windows Media Player.
Still confused, can anyone help?

To do incremental writes the program must be able to import the earlier session when it rewrites the TOC (Table of Contents). Nero, Roxio, etc. It is unlikely you will ever get a satisfactory outcome if you try to use rewritable media in a commercial player.
