Camera comparison (7 posts)

Want to buy Olympus c-8080 camera. What is the difference in performance, if any, between model 225450 and OLMC8080?

Re: Camera comparison

Paul,

I had a friend who advised various Defence areas on cameras as he was a professional photographer.

I don't know where your cameras fit in the scheme of things but unless they are basically top of the heap, there is really not much difference between the lot and he actually gave up advising.

IMO the things to look for are: Pixels, Zoom, low light focus, shutter lag (a lot of digital cameras have a considerable lag between when the shutter is pressed and when the picture is recorded) (Mine has and I sometimes get a blank shot when shooting moving targets).

I was browsing the other day on cameras (can't recall which one it was) when I came across a camera that had a hot-shoe flash connection as well as an internal flash- Great for getting rid of red-eye. (red-eye is caused by your flash being very close to the axis of the lens and the light reflecting from the rear of the eye- The further off-axis, the less likely to get red-eye), and PERSONAL CHOICE.

Price. If you're happy with the deal, then it's a good price. But don't forget that the camera wil cost a whole lot less next week because it is now superseded.

There are also a number of good review sites:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/olympusc8080wz/ is a very good site to get comparisons. One thing to remember though that most reviews are personal comments and are usually comparisons between what the reviewer likes and the one that he is reviewing.

Good hunting

Re: Camera comparison

Hello Paul,

I have had an Oly C5050 for a couple of years - a great camera. The C8080 is what I would buy next. 8MP is great when you have to crop down in size and 5x zoom is better than average. Olympus uses 225450 as the product number and C8080 as the model number or 'retail' name - in the long tradition of Oly Cx0x0 cameras starting with a C2020 from memory. I think you will find most reviews very positive.
