I loaded the game by putting the disc into the CD-Rom, and it plays perfectly the intro movie and everything. No skipping or anything. I click single player, Campaign, Greek, and Early Healladic people or whatever. Then the intro dialogue plays for the level. I then click the green check mark to start the level, and the screen goes black. error says

I checked my Graphics card, and I have a

-ATI Radeon 9800 Pro -Radeon 9800 Pro AGP (I think I need to have 4 MB of memory) -I have a total appox. memory of 128.0 MB

I'm just wondering if this is too powerful, and if it is how do I fix this problem? Please help me, this is my favourite game.

Assuming you've got the latest video drivers and DirectX running then I would try turning off the hardware acceleration (Display Properties - Settings - Advanced - Troubleshoot) and see if that does the trick.

EE will run on just about anything. What OS are you using? Make sure you have the latest version of DirectX (9.0c is the one you want). Start - Run - type dxdiag. Say no to the question re file versions. While in there, run the 3D tests, and ensure that everything in the Display section is enabled and running correctly. Enable anything which is disabled. Download the latest drivers for the video card. How now?

I am using Windows XP Home Edition 2002 Version

I do have DirectX 9.0c, and I ran all the tests, and also all the Display items are enabled and working properly. I haven't tried the game yet, because I was wondering where I go to download the latest drivers for my graphics card, and I was wondering if it was free too?

John. Resist the temptation to add to an old question, even if the subject is similar to your issue, as no-one but previous respondents will see your question. In this case however, you prompted some further research. It seems that this game is optimized for nVidia, so using a radeon will be more difficult than you might expect. There may be patches to resolve your issue, you will have to scout the matter via Google etc.
