ADSL connection speeds (2 posts)

What sort of transfers could I expect with a regular dial-up connection combined with an adsl modem?

Some people I have talked to say that there will be no improvement, whereas others say that I would notice a dramatic increase.

I was wondering if you could dispel this myth has been bothering me for quite some time.

Thanking you in advance,

David Aspden

Re: ADSL connection speeds

ADSL is faster. A lot.

Browsing regular web pages will be a fair bit faster. Downloading software will be dramatically faster. Streaming media will be greatly improved.

If you're trying to connect to a server that is overloaded, or if there's a poor connection, it will be just as slow over ADSL as over a modem.

Otherwise, I wonder what on earth these people you are talking to are on about. Why would you pay 3 times as much for ADSL if it wasn't any faster than a modem?
