g4 mac is too loud (2 posts)

My G4 Mac seems to be getting louder everyday. Everything runs fine so I dont want to get a new one but if this gets any noisier might have to.

try cleaning it

Hey JJ,

It could be that dust is building up on your fans. Try opening the case and blowing it out with compressed air and see if this helps. If it is still making noise after cleaning, see if you can figure out where exactly the noise is coming from. If it is just a fan, you might be able to replace it for a lot cheaper than the cost of a new computer.
