Cursor jumping (7 posts)

Have a Acer Aspire 5315 laptop, Intel Celeron Processor 550 Windows Vista Home Basic, have installed Microsoft Office XP Pro 2003.

When typing in Word the cursor will suddenly jump to another spot on the page causing a mix up with the words. Has anyone got any ideas of how to over come this problem? Thank you GTE

Re: Cursor jumping

Hi,

With a laptop this is often caused by accidentally touching the touchpad while typing.

Cheers Ian

Re: Cursor jumping

Vaguely recall similar situation, which, I think was mixed up with video drivers. Try updating your video and see how that works out. Failing that, hopefully another reader may be able to assist.

Re: Cursor jumping

Have you checked/updated your mouse drivers lately? If not, perhaps is now the time so to do.

Re: Cursor jumping

Thank you for replies, I adjusted the mouse details and it now appears to be working OK. The suggestion of the touchy mouse pad is what it appeared to be Thanks GTE

Re: Cursor jumping

I have an Acer Laptop, same make as yours, and its Touch Pad is very sensitive so it's easy to touch the pad accidentally with a finger or brush across it with your free hand, arm, etc, while typing. I've stopped using the Touch Pad and use the Arrow Keys together with the Mouse and don't have the problem anymore.

Hope this might assist.

P.S. I've tossed out Vista and gone back to XP and less problems all round.

Jacko.

Re: Cursor jumping

You can try to reinstall the mouse and clean it real good, that sometimes works. If not get a new one they are cheap enough.
