Win2000, Win98 Sharing under Netware (3 posts)

Has anyone worked out how to get Windows2000/NT computers to directly share drives and printers with Windows95/98 machines when using client for Netware networks as the primary network logon? (Needed for Novell network 3)

Re: Win2000, Win98 Sharing under Netware

Hi Andrew

This from the Novell Australia Helpdesk:

The question of how to connect to a Windows 2000 or Windows NT share from a Windows 9X operating system, when using the Netware Client as the primary logon, has a simple answer. The authentication required by Windows 2000 and Windows NT requires a computer to have the Client for Microsoft Networks installed. The user also needs to logon with the Windows logon. If, for any reason, the user cancels the Windows logon page, access to any Microsoft resource shares will not be available until the user logs on locally again.

Hope this is not too late

Howard

Re: Win2000, Win98 Sharing under Netware

Hi Andrew.

Our network runs both IPX/SPX & TCP/IP, the workstations all running Win 9x with our primary login being Microsoft Client for Netware. We also have Microsoft Client for Microsoft Networks installed. We are able to share drives between individual workstations and also our NT4 RAS server & NT4 Notes server. I believe the TCP/IP does the connecting between the Windows machines.

We don't share printers that way though. We have Netware print servers, putting old 286s & 486s to work. Regards
