Editing *.vob video files (2 posts)

A friend had some movie films transferred to DVD by a commercial provider. Each film was placed in a separate chapter. He has asked me to edit some of the chapters and save them in a different order on another DVD. The files on the original DVD have an .vob extension.

Unfortunately the video editing programs I can access (via friends computers and off PC World Mag discs) will not open these .vob files.

Browsing the internet suggested that changing the file name extension to .mpeg should work but this proved equally unsuccesfull.

Does anyone know how to make .vob files accessible in video editing programs such as Screenblaster Movie Studio , Video Studio 6, Editstudio etc.

USE CS4 change vob to mpg or use winavi video converter to change from vob to mpg2
