Removing apps that don't exist (4 posts)

Ultimate Defender and Ultimate Cleaner are not installed on my pc but they keep telling me they are. Attempts to remove this imposing program by ad Adware or Spybot have been unsuccessful.

How can i kick them off my pc?

Download HijackThis from -

Post the resulting log file here for analysis -

"Fix" the entries it identifies as nasties unless you know what they are and wish to keep them.

Ray,

Have a look in the Control Panel's "Add/Remove Programs" to see if the 'Ultimate' suite appears there. If so, uninstall it.

If not, using Windows Explorer, search your C: drive (right-click on the C: drive in the left-most pane and select 'Search') for 'ultimate' (without the quotes) to see if it finds a directory or files containing that name. If so, delete them (left-click on the directory or file name and hit the key).

G'day ray

Download JV Powertools and use the Registry Finder to search for the offending programs.

Also a trial version of AVG antispy (use to be Ewido) would give you a good cleanup.

After downloading and installing these programs start your computer in Safe Mode and run them.
