Free Antivirus for Windows 98x (5 posts)

Can anyone recommend (or suggest) a good Free antivirus programme for Windows 98SE. Norton is installed at moment but my sub expires soon - if I instal another AV does Norton have to be completely uninstalled?

All help much appreciated

<> Yes. It should never have been installed - it has been slowing you down ever since. AVG7 free edition supports 98SE, so this is the way to go. www.free.grisoft.com

Avast supports this and is also free - http://www.avast.com

Certainly dump Norton. It causes all sorts of headaches as numerous posts on this forum indicate. I've used AVG for years and the latest AVG-7 has saved my bacon a few times.

While I am rolling with Sophos antivirus, I am hearing great things about Avast as well. I think when I finally get a new windows 7 laptop I will give it a whirl. The price is right and I am hearing it is very kind to system resources (a HUGE factor for me).
