Why Windows 7? (8 posts)

I got it. I installed it. I tried it. I hated it. I uninstalled it. Reinstalled Vista only because I can't get a copy of Win XP. Win XP with an "Aero" option for those who prefer shadow over substance would have done the job. Comments?

Why Windows 7?

Hello Martin, Win.XP Pro SP3 can be purchased from: www.corpsoft.com.au and MegaBuy (google). I advise looking at both sites before buying. Ian.

Why Windows 7?

Thanks for that Ian. May You & Yours have a great Christmas. Martin

Why?

why didnt u like it? how did u reinstall vista?

Why?

Place the Vista disk in the tray re-boot the PC and follow the prompts. May even give you a choice to Format. And you can turn off all those annoying requests that ask if you really want to download etc.

As to why I didn't like it? I can assure you there is no short answer. However a hint. If you have been conditioned that when wanting to indicate a turn in a car all you have to do to activate the indicator is one simple deft movement, and then a manufacturer comes out with a car that compels you not only to find the indicator, but then switch on the radio (if you can find it) and then record which direction it is you are taking before making that movement; I would suggest that if you had purchased that car you'd probably leave it in the garage and ride bike. Also I like to keep what's on my PC private if I so choose. Win 7 if you followed all the options would have most of your data etc stored elsewhere. So my friend, if perchance you work for Microsoft give them the message loud and clear. Martin

Loving Windows 7

Upgraded from XP to win7 (64bit) and I'm loving it, no way im going back to XP. I can understand if you have a slow computer, but my setup is pretty fast considering its 2 and a half years old [3.0ghz core2duo, 4gb RAM (now 8GB :D), 150gb hdd (now 500gb :D) 320mb 8800gts]. Cant say adding an extra 4gb improved performance heaps but is noticeable in most areas. Aero runs smooth, overall, just snappier than XP, the 64bits is really a whole new level.

Win7

You've summed it up. 64bit. Not Win7

Don`t like Windows7

Hi, I did a clean install of Windows7 on two computers one 32bit and one 64bit, i would not go back to Vista or XP, I love this system, Its faster uses less resources than the older systems. There are shortcuts to get to your folders but its still only one folder if you make it private looks like its in more than one but its only one folder,it`s still private from anywhere.

You sound like didn`t give this a fair run.

I do not like to do the upgrade way I prefer to do clean install`s more money but worth it in the long run.

You should get Professor Teaches Windows7, This teaches you how to use this program and explains all the new ways to do things.
