LG DVD Writer Requirements (5 posts)

RE: Super Multi LG Dual Layer DVD Writer: Model No. GSA-4163B. In the May 2005 Edition of PC World it was mentioned that this DVD Burner was a Best Buy. However when I went to purchase this product the minimum requirements on the box said it required a PC with a processor speed of 2.4GHz and 128Mb Video Card Recommended. Unfortunately I have an older PC with only a 1.0 GHz AMD Athlon Processor running at 1.25Ghz and a 32Mb Video Card. All Other system requirements have been met. I was wondering if I copied/burned the DVD at the slowest speed possible would I still be able to use this product with no buffer overruns and any major problems?

Re: LG DVD Writer Requirements

Those stated minimum requirements would be for playing DVD movies using the software that's (probably) included free in the box.

If you only want to burn and read DVDs, and don't want to play DVD movies, you can ignore those minimum requirements.

Re: LG DVD Writer Requirements

I am running one in a P3 933 with no problems. Burns single layer at 8X quite happily, haven't yet tried a dual layer disk.

Re: LG DVD Writer Requirements

My system runs on an AMD 850, with 128meg RAM (graphics unknown) and the LG GSA-4163B runs perfectly for me. However, am yet to attempt a dual layer burn at this stage.

Had a few minor post-installations issues, but these have since been sorted. Burner was installed approx. Aug 2004.

My reason for purchase: The ability to read RAM discs.

I need a job.i have finish hardware networking.
