Asus Notebook a2500H (5 posts)

I have a a2500h notebook. I am trying to install some external speakers, but I am finding that it will not work. Someone has said I should look at my sound card. Where is it? Can it be replaced?

Re: Asus Notebook a2500H

If the internal works, then the soundcard is probably fine. Try a set of stereo headphones. Do the speakers work when plugged into another system? The laptop output will likely be line out, so the speakers will neeed to be powered.

Notebooks (and even most desktops these days) don't have a separate sound card as such that can be replaced. The "sound card" functionality is built into the motherboard. You should have a socket for connecting external speakers. I can't say where it is because Asus wipes the info for old models off its web site. Its such a standard feature, with a standard symbol (a set of earphones), and a standard socket, that its often not documented whether there is one or not. If its coloured, it should be light green.

Is the sound from the internal speakers working? If it's not, it's possible that the "sound card" is disabled in the BIOS, and you have to go in at bootup and enable it. It could also be that the volume is turned down in Windows.

If all that checks out and you still can't get any sound out of the sound socket, or it hasn't got one, there are speakers you can get that connect to the USB port. You've absolutely definitely got one of those.

yeah?

yeah?
