Creating a wireless home network (3 posts)

Hi there,

I'm wanting to network my windows xp laptop up to the home pc which is windows 98 2nd ed. I have a a wireless card for my laptop and we have a broadband cable modem for the home pc. What else do I need to create a wireless network?

Thanks

Hi,

You need a wireless card on the 98 PC, preferrably the same brand as the one on your laptop. You should then be able to run an Ad-Hoc wireless network, sharing the Internet connection on the 98 box by running the Internet Connection Sharing Wizard.

Regards,

Daniel

You might wish to go a step further and look at a wireless router. This will give you better options for sharing the internet as well as using the network between the 2 computers to share files.
