google cookies in firefox (2 posts)

Hi, It's been years since I've had a question for helpscreen but I'm glad it's still here.

I am an Australian living in SOuth Korea. I use firefox on OS x, and google for searching. In the past, about once each two weeks the cookie from google would expire and when I ran a search from the top fight hand corner of firefox, the serach result would come up through google.co.kr. I would reset my preferences via the serach prefs link that google has, and everything would be fine for another two weeks.

That was okay, but lately it only lasts a few hours then it defaults back to google.co.kr (and with search filtering on etc - all the defaults)

Is there anything I can do to firefox so it always renders searches in google.com?

Could it have something to do with google's services being linked? - my youtube page always seems to know I am in S.Korea...

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated

Hi, You can try editing the

Hi,

You can try editing the .xml file for the Google search engine plug-in. This page has some info on how to do it on a Mac:

You have to take out all instances of .co.kr and change them to .com. I am not sure if this will work as on my PC it was set to .com yet still defaulted com.au when i searched, but changing from .com to .co.uk showed that the tip works (for that particular example, at least).
