Digital Phone Adapter (4 posts)

I want to take up a naked plan in the near future. What I need help with is finding an adapter for my digital phone system Uniden 9035+2. I have asked Uniden but they only supply an adapter for Skype and they were unable to advise me where I would be able to find one. The techo I spoke to could not even find the Uniden adapter VG-100, I knew then he was from the shallow end of the gene pool.

Searching the net I can find adapters for analogue phones like Linksys PAP2. I hope someone can help me, even if it means purchasing from overseas with the hassle of power plugs.

Re: Digital Phone Adapter

I haven't done a lot of research on the Uniden system but it looks to me like it uses analogue lines. If a standard analogue handset works on the line, then you need an analogue adapter.

Cheers

Re: Digital Phone Adapter

Hi,

Your ISP can assist with information on this. You may need to get an adapter to convert the line connection, or this may be built into the modem, depending if you are using your own hardware or that provided to you from the ISP.

Speak with them and they should be able to point you in the right direction (if they supply the modem hardware).

Hope this helps,

Micky.

Looks like you need an ATA

As far as I ca see the Uniden phone you have is digital over its own wireless connection, the actual phone cable to the outside world appears to be standard PSTN analogue. To use this for VOIP you need a Analogue Telephone Adapater (ATA) which you can but from any number of places. Some router/modems now have an ATA built in. ATAs are not specific to any VOIP provider except that if a VOIP providers "gives" you an ATA as part of your contract they will normally lock the ATA to their own service. Often this can be unlocked, but not always.
