I have a FA-100 interface to update to/from my computer with this digital diary which I bought years ago and did use, but suspect with something like a x286 PC.
I cant get the software to work (ie interface software) using either DOS 6.22 on the old x386 66 Mhz machine loading software from a 1.4MB drive or from the newer machine -- a PIII about 660Mhz running say Win98 2nd edition loading the same software from a 1.4mb floppy.
Part of the problem is I suspect the software to install/re-install it might require ansi-sys? I vaguely remember that is required to be loaded but cant remember what the autoexec and config.sys should read.
Also, I am not absolutely sure if I should be plugging into the parrallel port or the serial port. I also suspect I need to use a serial cable which I understand looks the same but wired differently to a parallel cable. This of course is in addition to the smaller cable which plugs directly into the casio diary to interface.
The name of the program I bought with the FA-100 interface kit is (Casio) SFD, and SFD tools, and cant find any info on the Net.
Can you help!
Thanks
Ray

Re: Casio SF 4300 Digital Diary
Hi Ray
I have the same FA100 link cable. It is a 9 pin serial connection. I'm using the PC_link software from Travelling Software without any problems. It fits on a single floppy so if it's no longer available (and I don't think it is)I'll e-mail you a copy.

Re: Casio SF 4300 Digital Diary
Hi R Whyte,
Just found this on the internet Dec 30th 2009 and never realised you had replied. I have no idea why I did not see your reply....maybe my pc had crashed at time as that seem to be the order of the day back in 2000!
What a shame as I have thrown the Casio SF 4300 out only very recently...after giving up I would ever get the thing to work.
I am amazed to see this posting here after all these years so a belated thanks for your offer!! since bought another gadget and I am sure the old diary was better even if the new one has a whopping 2 mb storage instead of the then mere 16Kb or so. It was a good gadget and cost me heaps at the time.

Casio SF4300
I have a Casio SF-4300A digital diary (very old but of sentimental value!). After not using it for ages I have just replaced the batteries and reset the data but now find that none of the number functions work. I've just stumbled across your post and am wondering if you can point me towards whoever it was replied to your original. Do you know is this a repairable instrument and, if so, where do I get the bits?
Thanks, Richard

Hi,
Did you ever get a replyto your problem? I have the same sitution having replaced the batteries - one at a time as directed- now no data just an error message -to consult the manual. I have had the unit for many years and the manual is long gone.
Regards.

Hi, after many years I decided to do "the right thing" and change my password for the protected area. I used a combination of alpha-numerics. The unit still works fine - except now I can't access the password protected area - where I kept all my pin codes etc - as the unti politely indicates "Password Mismatch". I had followed the instructions - as I still have the original box and User Manual, but for some reason, I just can't seem to get passed this password problem - any assistance would be greatly appreciated
