For some years, I have been trying to get CA-SuperCalc for Windows running on platforms later than Windows3.1 (for which it was originally designed). (Tried: 98, 98SE, ME, 2000, XP, Vista)

This software is still useful, and is still used, because it does things that Excel can't, like multidimensional modelling, and associated reporting. (This is not the DOS SuperCalc program.)

Currently, I am running it in a 3.1 virtual machine under Vista, with shared folders, but it would be nice to run it directly, so as to be able to use any variety of printers, copy/paste, etc.

Apparently, Computer Associates did release a version for Win95, (this info from a 1999 British E-journal,) but didn't inform any of their registered users. (How very helpful of them!) They also didn't keep any archive copies for themselves. (This info is from CA themselves.)

My question is: does anyone have a copy of CA-SuperCalc for Windows 95?

I have a copy of Supercalc 5.5 for DOS that I am successfully running under Windows XP Pro. Sorry, I never saw anything more than an Ad for the Windows version of Supercalc.

I was a UK product specialist for SuperCalc (DOS & Windows) working at CA in the UK, up until the point the whole 'Micro' department was wound down (and moved to the Unicentre product line as it was being born), I can't say I remember us getting a version of SCW for Win95 specifically but I'll check an old box later as I need to go in the loft for something else.

SuperCalc was much bigger in the UK than the US, although development work was done in the US, so we had a pretty good idea of what was happening. There was a rumour that the PC 'office' products were discontinued due to a deal with Microsoft, we wouldn't touch that and they wouldn't touch the systems management arena (Unicentre market).

Either way I should have disks for just about everything SuperCalc we got, so if I don't have it then I would have to questions if it was produced.

It looks like I might have stashed them off site! The box isn't in the loft, so I probably put it in a lockup we have. I'm due there possible in the next week, although the wife is 8.5 months pregnant so things are a bit up in the air at the moment.

Re Supercalc

I've been using SC5 for years - and is the one reason, after buying another computer with another copy of VISA - that I'm going back to XP! It's such a beautiful program - simple to use, once mastered - and very easy macro. I've tried moving across to Excel - but there's no match for what I do.

XP and SC5 were made for each other. I found a way of getting SC5 working better - which was to create a separate tiny DOS32 partition with all the supercalc files installed - and found it works with all functions I need in that environment in XP!

I hope someone can crack the puzzle and get it going in Vista

I use supercalc 4 for dos in windows XP and also in Vista. Took a bit of messing about to get it full screen but now works well in both. No joy with windows 7 though!

Can you get SC5 to print ? I have ti running perfectly until I go to print. There is a message to say it is printing but nothing happens and the machine locks up!

I am using SuperCalc 5.5 on an older HP Pavilion computer that still has a DOS mode. Computer has Windows 98. I would like SuperCalc to add all the dollars and cents that I have in one column, roughly 2500 entries, with the sum being entered at the bottom of the row. What commands do I give the spreadsheet to get the program to add the figures?
