Printing on the network (3 posts)

Hi folks,

I have attached a HP 4250 to my server. I have a print server (a small exe) running on my server. and ~10 PCs are connected with. so the problem is one of my computer prints directly on the printer, the documents from that particular PC can not be queued on my print server software.. while docs from other pcs are queued on the software.

What happened? Any suggetions? thanx

Re: Printing on the network

If you have installed the software from the printers driver CD on the "one PC" that connects directly, it may be ignoring the printer server completely and connecting directly to the printer. Have a look at the "printer host" or "printer connection" properties shown on the particular PC, and see if it shows the IP address of the printer, or a more generic description of the printer server.

You can see the IP address in the printer by printing it's configuration from the menu on the printer.

Re: Printing on the network

Check the firewall settings on both PCs.

Good luck
