I have home network that runs Internet Connection Sharing(ICS), the gateway computer runs Win ME and uses a modem to connect to the internet. The client computer runs Win 95. The network and ICS work without any problems.
A friend also runs a home network configured the same.
We would like to be able to connect the networks together using a dial-up modem to play multi player PC games.
When playing games one computer is the server and the other logs onto it by suppling the IP address.
As our networks are ICS networks we both have computer with an IP address 192.168.0.1 and a computer with 192.168.0.2.
Is it possible to connect the two networks?
Hopefully I have supplied enough detail.
Thanks.

Re: Connecting home Networks
It is possible to set this up, but you will need to buy some software.
What you need to do is set up a virtual private network between the two networks. You can do this in Windows NT or 2000, but Windows 98 can't do it on its own. If you were going to do it with Windows NT or 2000, it would get very complicated, because you'd need to set up routing and different subnets for the two networks. You're probably better off ignoring that option, because I'm not sure about you, but it would give me a headache.
An easier option would be to buy a product such as WinRoute Lite, which would allow you to share internet connections and would also let you set up a VPN between the two networks. It costs US$79 to buy, but you can download a 30-day trial version first to see if it works.

Re: Connecting home Networks
It haven't set by the win O/S itself. If you wann to set a home network for play game. Just set the IP address for the server computer *198.x.x.1. Then use auto detect IP in the client's computers. It is the basic setting.
If you want to play mult-player games, then you will need to install IPX Protocol.
