When i start the game it asks for doom3 cd key when i put it in it comes up cd key invalid. Why is it so an how do i fix it?

Is it genuine? Check for 8 = B, O = 0 (thats zero or letter "O") etc.

Do you have Clone CD or InCD installed?

I have found particularly with Clone CD that problems occur either with the installation or the running some games on one of my own systems, closing the program in your Task Bar may fix the problem.

Is the cd key clearly legible? I had a problem registering the Neverwinter Nights cd key because of the ambiguity of the font the key was set in. Try switching around any character that looks similar eg 8, B, 5, S, 1, I, l, O, 0, D, C, G.
