I've downloaded and tried to execute the Rollercoaster Tycoon patch for play using XP, but I get a message saying the file won't run.
I downloaded it a couple of times but it just would not run.
Has anyone else encountered this, or can they offer any advice?
I'm not a computer novice, so surely others have had the same problem.
PS. I know RCT 2 is due out soon.

Rollercoaster Tycoon is personally one of my favourite games. When it wouldn't run on my XP system I downloaded the patch and it worked fine.
Maybe the problem is that you got the wrong patch. The US English patch won't work on the UK English version and vice versa.

Tried more things, but 'Error Trapper' persists
Thanks for your interest.
I have downloaded both the RCTUS and RCTUK patches and run them, but still without luck.
The PC tries to execute the patches but a Windows box titled 'Error Trapper' appears, saying:
"Exception Raised - Access Violation. Error Location: Unknown."
I have also tried disabling my anti-virus program and then running the patches.
I've right clicked and selected 'Run As' and unchecked "protect my computer and data from unauthorised program activity". No luck.
I've even gone into File Properties and tried running the files in compatibility mode for Win95.
Is there a genius out there who knows what might solve this 'Error Trapper' problem?
FYI, I am running XP on an AthlonXP 1800.

I also got an "Error Trapper" message just like yours.
You should say if you have any expansion packs installed - I have RCT with the "Added Attractions" and "Loopy Landscapes" expansion packs - I don't know whether having expannsion packs installed makes it any different.
Are you using the home or proffesional edition of Win XP? This may have an effect, also knowing your system spec might help.
Mine aren't running in any special modes, not compatibility mode or anything.
I have XP Home on a Celeron 1GHz and 256mb of RAM (16mb of which is devoted to my SiS 630/730 graphics chip).

I have no expansion packs.
I turned my files back from compatibility mode after I tried that idea.
My system specs are XP Pro, Athlon XP 1800, 512MB RAM, over 50GB free. I only got this PC in April so it's not behind the times.
Perhaps using XP Pro though is the issue? However we don't know what to do about this.
When you got your error trapper messages, I presume you downloaded the specific patch for users with expansion packs? If you did, unfortunately this doesn't help me. If you didn't, what did you do to get it to run?
