I successfully had a home network working with one XP Home and a 98SE machine. Sharing DSL connection and networked printer. Can also network with XP Prof Laptop.
The problem now, and I think since applying SP2, is that the two other machines can no longer share printers and folders on the XP Home machine UNLESS the XP is the last one to reboot. Log off does not work. This is a pain as the laptop is not always connected and the 98 is not the most stable.
Is this a known issue? Any ideas on how to avoid rebooting XP?
Thanks
Craig

Re: XP Home SP2 home network problem
Hi,
It could be that the firewall that comes with sp2 is blocking connections from the other computers, I would suggest configuring the access or turning the firewall protection off altogether to try and remedy the problem.
Hope this helps,
Tim

Re: XP Home SP2 home network problem
Thanks Tim.
I knew I should have said that I was not using XP firewall.
I used and continue to use McAfee Firewall. Settings identical before and after.
