you must have better things to do, but here we go.
I have the above game, and am running windows me. After a while I just see dots instead of the piles of cards, and do not know how to get them back.
Do not rush with the solution, I can wait. Thanks in advance, if you can bother.

Re: Classic solitaire
First thought would be to update your video adapter driver. Second do a system file scan (sfc). In case the program is damaged, extract a new copy from the CD. Use sfc for this also. I think the file name is sol.exe. Right click the menu entry and look at the properties to check.
