DVD not reading (6 posts)

Burn something into DVD +R (TDK brand ) and tried to play, but nothing happens. Then double clicked on dvd rom and response is Insert disk into drive D. Then tried right mouse click on drive D and property, looked something there, it indicate Used space 0 bytes and free space 0 bytes. Why did this happen, I am sure I burned on to DVD properly? ENC

Re: DVD not reading

Nimal,

If you were asked to insert a disk, then there was nothing readable on the disk.

Re: DVD not reading

Nimal,

Further to my previous response: If the properties indicate 0 bytes free and 0 bytes used then you have burnt a dud. It would appear that you may have not transferred the data correctly before burning.

Dear MR. Dick Tracy Thanks lot for the clear answers. ENC

Re: DVD not reading

Hi Nimal, I have had similar messages from my PC, but on checking the drive properties have found that, somehow even with a fully updated AV and Adaware/Spybot having been run, my burner is listed as not capable or permitted for burning. Two other friends have had the same problem. Ticking the 'Recording' 'Enable CD Recording on this Drive' solved the problem.

Re: DVD not reading

I've had this same problem with bought DVDs & even PC World cover DVDs in my read only drive. When I inserted the DVD into my DVD Writer the DVD can often be read as it's newer. I assumed that the firmware in the DVD drive could not read the DVD.

You should try the DVD in another PC or upgrade the firmware. Can the data be read on the DVD Writer? I plan to upgrade the firmware in the future when not so busy.
