Help choosing laptop (2 posts)

G'day guys looking to buy a laptop, main priority will be HD digital video editing as well as some web browsing. Budget around $1200?

Dell Studio laptop

Better off doing that sort of task on a PC as you can buy much more CPU power (including a quad-core CPU) and plenty of hard drive space for $1200.

But if your heart is set on a laptop for HD editing then for a little more than $1200 you should look at Dell's Studio range:

Bascially, look for a laptop with an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, a large hard drive (7200rpm), 4GB of RAM, and a dedicated graphics card. You should also invest in large external hard drives to store your files -- FireWire is best for video editing, since you will be working with big file sizes.

Hope this helps.
