Firewall blocking Internet access (4 posts)

I have 2 computers one running WIN XP SP2 the other WIN 98SE.

Using the MS Network Setup Wizard I've been able have them "talk" to each other via a coax link using NE2000 cards. The File & Printer Sharing works OK, but I can't get my WIN 98SE computer to gain access via the WIN XP SP2 computer's Cable Modem connection to the Internet except when I turn off ZoneAlarm (Free Version) Firewall and I can't find a way to configure ZA so as it allows Internet access to this computer.

(The Windows Firewall is permanently switched off)

Can someone please give me the full setup procedure from the very start so that I can begin from the very begining, and so ensure every part of the configuration procedure has been carried out in the correct sequence.

Thanks in advance

Max Rieper

P.S.

Another minor problem is that when I "Run" ipconfig /all to find the IP addresses, the DOS screen only flashes on for millisecs @#$%^&. How can I make this screen remain visible?

Re: Firewall blocking Internet access

Zone Alarm free edition does not support internet connection sharing. Open a command window, Run, cmd. Type ipconfig or whatever in the window.

Re: Firewall blocking Internet access

If you set the internet zone to medium instead of high then the firewall will allow the other computer internwet access via the one with the firewall. If you want to keep the internet zone setting at high you need toe PRO version of ZoneAlarm which allows you to configure the firewall for internet connection sharing.

Re: Firewall blocking Internet access

When you go to run, first type in CMD and when the DOS Box comes up type IPCONFIG.
