Can't access windows98 Linux (1 post)

Hi there

I have an Ethernet network which consist in a PC with Linux loaded and another one with Windows 98. I can ping from both to the other PC successfully. I can also telnet successfully from my Windows PC to the one with Linux.

I have got samba server installed on my Linux PC and I believe I have modified the smb.conf file successfully. My problem is that on my windows PC I can see the Linux icon on my Network Neighborhood site as well as my own shared files, however when I’ve tried to access my Linux PC I get the following error message:\(Linux PC) is not accessible. The specified computer did not receive your request, try again later.

Also when I try StartRun: 192.168.0.2 (or the Linux PC name) I get :”The network name cannot be found”.

Do I require a higher access level from my Windows 98 PC to access Linux PC?

I’ve tried to get administration privileges to a user on windows 98 unsuccessfully.

Please help.
