Splitting Video Files (7 posts)

Is there a program I can use to split a video file (.AVI or .MPG) into smaller segments?

Thanks.

Robert

Re: Splitting Video Files

Robert,

The quick answer is: "Yes, many!", but the long answer requires more information from you...

Why do you want to split video files: (1) so they are small enough to be e-mailed, to be re-joined by the recipient into the original video (Split'N'Join will do this), or (2) to remove unwanted parts (e.g. adverts from a recorded show)?

For this latter task you need a video editing program, like the ones usually supplied with a new DVD burner. Check what you received with your PC (or with your burner if purchased separately). There are also a few free ones on the 'net; do a Google for 'video editing software' to find some.
