Used Ink Tank nearly full (2 posts)

I have a Canon S9000 A3 size printer which is about 6 years old. It cost about $1000 when purchased. It is now giving me the message "Used ink tank is almost full". There is no indication anywhere about what needs to be done, so I have emailed Canon, with no reply. Does anybody know what happens next?

Thank you, Ron

Used Ink Tank nearly full

After every print job, the printer ejects any ink remaining in the lines/heads into a waste ink tank, to make sure the ink doesn't dry and clog the heads.

Eventually, the waste ink tank becomes full.

Emptying the tank either involves a service, or access to the repair manuals and a willingness to get very dirty.
