Make partition active (3 posts)

I installed ubuntu 7.04 on hard drive that has xp on it. It made new partition but it is not active. How do I use the partition with ubuntu on it?

Re: Make partition active

Alan,

I've never done it myself, but if I recall there is a facility in XP that permits you to create a dual boot option- this must be done to allow you the option of booting to either Ubuntu or XP. Do a search on Google for dual booting with XP.

Re: Make partition active

Hi, My Ubuntu installation used the GRUB loader to install as dual with my XP and when booting up, I'm given the choice of XP or Ubuntu - it's either one or the other although Ubuntu 7.10 (I think) has the capability of reading and writing to your NTFS XP files. Allan
