Hi,
I just bought a TV tuner card from VideoMate.
I managed to get all free to air channels in digital and analog formats alright except for SBS.
Trying to autoscan a few times and located SBS channel but I can't watch it as the signal is too weak.
Is anyone having the same problem or does anyone know how to rectify this issue?
I'm living in Mascot, NSW, near the airport. The antenna is a built in antena that comes with my room.
Thank you in advance. I'm a big soccer fan and really want to get SBS.

Digital gives a good picture, but unless you have a strong signal you can't receive it.
SBS is the only one of the free-to-air channels that is broadcast on the UHF band. Quite a lot of premises from before 1990 don't have antennas or cabling designed to receive the UHF band so they get a very weak signal.
The fix for a renter like you depends on the sort of premises you're in.
If its a house that just has an antenna and a cable running down tone one wall socket it might be as easy as getting the antenna replaced with a new one that can receive the UHF band.
If its a large home unit block with amplifiers and splitters and wall sockets in lots of rooms it can be horrendously expensive and building owners are reluctant to do that for the few people who watch SBS. If that's the case your best bet to try somewhere like Dick Smith or Jaycar for an internal antenna just for yourself and see what sort of reception you get.

I have had a VisioPlus digital TV card for a couple of months. SBS (several of their channels come up) has transmitted very irregularly, say once a week during my daily attempts, at least to this part of Western Victoria. Presumably they are still at a trial stage.

Get a bigger and better antenna - SBS is renowned for its low signal strength.
