Inserting .gifs (4 posts)

I have previously been able to insert a GIF into WORD, so that it appears as a GIF icon with a caption. Now I get a page of code instead. I suppose there must be a setting for this. Is there? Where ?

Re: Inserting .gifs

Joseph,

Sounds like you need to repair the Office installation. You can do this through Control Panel/Add remove and select Office and you will be given several options one of which is to repair the Office installation. Choose this option and follow the on screen prompts and you should come up with a solution to your problem. Let us know how you get on.

Cheers

Re: Inserting .gifs

When I pressed ENTER for a hard retrun, my post disappeared, so I don't know if I lost it or if it was posted. So I repeat :

John Stephen Tesoriero - you asked to be kept informed, so here is the state of play :

I can still put a GIF successfully into WORD2K (in WinMe), if I insert it as an 'object', and 'create it from a file'. If I double click the inserted item, it opens in ACDSee and displays animation. The same as for the original source of the object.

When I right-click on the inserted item, one of the options shows it as a Package Object. When I try the same strategy in WORDXP in WinXP (inserting an 'object' 'created from a file') and right-click the item, it is shown as a Photo Editor Photo Object. Double clicking on it opens MS Photo Editor and shows a still image. If I double-click the original image it opens in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer and shows animation.

So my trouble is WORDXP's default designation of the GIF as Photo Editor Object rather than as a Package Object. What setting can I alter in WORDXP to fix this?

I really liked the article, and the very cool blog
