Which laptop? (4 posts)

Please I need a laptop for personal use. Can you recommend any 4 me?

You need to narrow down your options

Your choice will depend on your definition of "personal" use.

Will you be doing any image editing, or playing games? Or will you just be browsing the web and editing documents?

Is portability a huge concern, and will you need to carry the notebook everywhere with you? If so you need something compact and light.

Once you work out what your planned use is, this will help narrow down your selection.

If you need just a basic laptop for personal use,m and you don't care about weight, the I have a few suggestions:

First of all, a Dell Inspiron 1520 is an outstanding multi-purpose laptop. I have one, and have had it for about a year and a half now, and it still works and looks as if it just came off of the assembly line. It is very durable and runs flawless and smooth.

Next, Fujitsu Lifebooks, preferrably one of the laptop/ tablet pcs such as a T5010 or T1010, or maybe even a u820 if you are looking for a very small and compact laptop. Fujitsu has an extremely high rating in laptops, rating second place only to Mac laptops. I also have a Fujitsu Lifebook T1010, and it works awesome and is zippy fast. In about a week, I am going to have 4 gigs of RAM in it, versus the 2 gig of ddr3 RAM that is in it now, and a brand new 320 gb Seagate 7200 RPM hard drive. It is going to be turned into a powerhouse. And holefully in a few months I can take it and have someone update and upgrade the processor in it for me. But even if I don't do that, this computer is by far the fastest and smoothest one that I have evr had and used, well, side by side with my Dell 1520 of course. Bottom line is both these computer brands and models really rock, and they aren't expensive. In other words, they are laptops that are built with the highest techy parts, but they don't cost an arm and a leg.

There are my two recommendations. But whatever you decide, please, do Not get a Sony. Sony Corp. does Not honor their warranties, and they break their warranty contracts. And what is worse is they also teach their tech support and repair persons dirty businesses of ways to get around honoring the warranties for people, and they are taught how to blame the customers and whcih violates the warranties, thus making the customer pay for the repair or replacement when in fact they shouldn't have to. Sony has violated their warranties with me twice now, and with no remorse. I personally, willnever buy another Sony product. I have also made it my life's mission do discourage as many people as I can to stay away from purchasing Sony products. If you buy a Sony, you will regret it down the road. And by reading this, you cannot say that you weren't warned. Thanks!
