g'day all - I cleverly but accidentally created the copyright symbol. Now, like the Sorcerer's Apprentice, I can't get things back to normal. Hold Shift /open parenthesis/ letter C / close parenthesis - instant copyright symbol - not letter C in parenthesis (c). I would like to know how to turn this feature on and off because I use the symbol from time to time. Jay

copyright symbol

Go to US Gov't Copyright site and copy the symbol itself. Save it, and then just copy and past it when you need (can be resized along with other type when pasted).

Easier than recreating.

to create the © symbol:

push and hold the alt button on your numpad, press 0169 release the alt button

presto! ©

(C) not solved

thanks Anonymous - that's good for future reference - I was going to ask you again, how do I undo this problem ... when blow me down - I accidently did it again!(sort of). Immediately after typing (C), which turns into a copyright symbol, I must press 'backspace', which returns the copyright symbol to letter c in parenthesis. So I haven't udone the problem but I can correct it. The mind boggles. Thanks for your time Anonymous. Jay

Or you could just launch the character map app. (in the System tools folder) and you can copy and paste it from there.

on windows you hold alt and press 0169
