Back & Forward buttons greyed out (6 posts)

The Back and Forward buttons don't work. They seem to be greyed out. How do I get them working again?

Re: Back & Forward buttons greyed out

Very good question

First you will need to tell us what back and forward buttons you are talking about.

Before we can answer your question.

Re: Back & Forward buttons greyed out

The backward and forward buttons in windows programs that are located at the top of the screen next to the up, cut, copy, paste, undo, delete buttons don't work. They work in internet explorer but they are greyed out in all windows programs.

They can be located by clicking on view, toolbars, standard bars.

Re: Back & Forward buttons greyed out

I assume that you are are using 98 or later and we are talking about IE 5.0 or 6.0.

First check on the menu bar it should say File Edit View Favorites Tools, Help. Go to view, toolbars, customize and a window pops up with items you can select for the toolbar. So make sure the back and forward arrows are selected and add them if not or just click the “reset” button of that window.

Re: Back & Forward buttons greyed out

If you are talking about the Back & Forward in Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer), they are greyed out when there is no Back or Forward to go to. That is, when you first open Windows Explorer both buttons are grey. Back will light up when you open a folder other than the default opne folder.

if you are talking about toolbar then i can help you just follow these steps:- click on tool click on folder options change the setting of 'browse folder' to 'open each folder in the same window' and your problem is solved......
