Networking Vista and XP (4 posts)

Hi,

I'm having trouble with printer and file sharing networking. I'm using Vista on my notebook, and XP on my PC. I can share the internet connection no problems, however, file and printer sharing I'm having difficulties with. When I try and access the other system it says I dont have access, I've changed the security settings around and have had no luck. Any hints?

Have you set them both to be in the same workgroup? The default is different for XP and Vista.

Have you using a login and password on both that is defined and matching on the other?

Re: Networking Vista and XP

I've adjusted the work groups to be the same. The login and password is something I haven't done, I don't have a login screen when i start up XP, however I do when I start Vista. Should I create a user for XP as well?
