After reading the article "Just In: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Adds a Layer of Protection" I downloaded and installed the program.
Imagine my horror when I found, after installation, this STARTUPMONITOR WARNING:
The program Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware has registered the executable [%R%]:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe /install /silent to run at system startup. Do you wish to allow this change? Yes No
Of course I just said no. I am a bit concerned about the running of silent installs at system startup, unless I understand why they are running then, instead of when the basic program is installed. (Many program installs run, as "run once" items, a post install cleanup routine at the next startup - but this "mbamgui.exe" install does not appear to fit that standard.)
I do not recall seeing any reference to, or agreeing to, any additional programs when I installed the basic software. Nor do I recall being advised that the installation of the basic program would result in the program running automatically at startup. Maybe I missed a paragraph in the License.
Can anyone clear this up?
