Office 2007 Pro wont install on Windows 7 (4 posts)

I have just purchased M/S office Professional A/E. Despite several attempts it will not install on a notebook running windows 7 home premium. After saying "installing" it says "installation encountered an error" & goes no further & offers no error explanation. There is a trial version of a smaller version of 2007 installed. Could this be the problem ?. I have tried uninstalling it but this is also unsuccesful. Suggestions please in simple terms? John

Try Microsoft support first and if you don't get a satisfactory solution get back to here.

From MS support

In Windows 7 64 bit

  1. Click Start and then type cmd in the Start Search box.

  2. Type cd "%allusersprofile%Application DataMicrosoft Help", and then press ENTER,

  3. Type attrib -h rgstrtn.lck, and then press ENTER.

  4. Type del rgstrtn.lck, and then press ENTER.

  5. Type exit, and then press ENTER.

After you delete the Rgstrtn.lck file, you can try to install the 2007 Office suite or the 2007 Office program that you tried to install earlier.

MS Office 2007 on Win 7HP

I had no problems installing MS Office Pro 2007 on my Win7 Home Prem (32bit) laptop. The W7 install was an upgrade disk via HP for the laptop (HP dv3-2035TX). The install of Office was from pack bought 2 years ago. If you are encountering issues, 1. check with Microsoft; 2. try the Office install on another system (possible bad copy onto the CD - unfortunately it does happen). Good Luck.
