Partition table input/output error (3 posts)

I was trying to install Linux RedHat 7.0 but as I choose workstation and then next, an error message comes up saying:

"An error occurred reading the partition table for the block device hda. The error was: Input/output error"

Can you please tell me what I can do to fix this?

Just bouncing this. I am trying to install a really old version of RHEL6 that I bought as a Sybex Publisher's release. I am trying to install it as a Virtual Machine on Qemu-kvm. I think maybe the installer for the os is so old that it doesn't know how to install itself on a VM.

I forgot to mention, this version is from 1999.
