Before getting a mac, I would like to know if it is possible to use the apple remote that came with it to control eyeTV. I saw an example of the normal remote in the shop but it was awkward to have to swap the remote for different things.

Yes, it is possible to use the apple remote that came with Mac to use with the latest version of EyeTV through a FrontRow menu, but if you have an older version of Mac, it will only work if you have a built-in IR receiver.
