GARMIN? Far off! (1 post)

In June 2010 I bought for my Garmin Nuvi the SE-Asia map. To my great annoyance the map was totally useless - it directed us (rather on roads) through Java's rice fields! Opened in spring 2009 5.5 km (!) long, thus longest bridge in Indonesia (Java-Madura), Garmin had never known. Instead, we should take the ferry. Our next trip took us to Thailand in December. Here is one of the largest tourist resorts, Khao Lak (6 years ago, swept away by the tsunami), on the west coast, north of Phuket. With hundreds of hotels, restaurants and shops it was undetectable in the search program! But only about 6.5 miles from this an “Int.Border” can be seen. Far and wide, there is neither a province nor international border. When asked for the nearest post office, GARMIN answers "75km south" - although I'm only 100 meters away! There is no "WoodlandS Inn” in Bangkok, because GARMIN sloppily is omitting the "s". The Main Post Office, located at one of the main streets, is located at Garmin in a "Soi" (alleyways). We feel GARMIN cheated us not only our good money and travel experience, but also in our trust. The embarrassing examples could go on and on - but we are GARMINtired and will throw the nuvi in the trash and change the brand. Dr. Michael Beer
