Blu-ray disk compatibility (2 posts)

What is the deal with Blu-ray disk compatibility? I am experiencing movie skipping in a blu-ray version of the movie “Up”. I have an LG BD570. The movie skips ahead at 1:03. Any solutions?

LG says it is looking into it. There is no solution to this problem as such. The only things you can try are wiping the disk with a dry soft cloth that does not leave fibers on the surface. Power the player on and off a couple of times. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best solution. Problems have also been reported on the ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer' and 'Day After Tomorrow' BDs. So if “Up” is not running properly, avoid these two titles too. Samsung's BDP-1200 and LG's BH100 are two players which should be avoided at all costs. Users have reported serious issues with these players. All this to the extent that people are marking these as players which cannot play Blu-ray disks. LG and Samsung say the only way to save these players from becoming junk is a firmware upgrade.
