how to manage my Wi-Fi connection for optimum performance (2 posts)

I have a 3-story building rented to paying guests. I am not sure how to manage my Wi- Fi connection for optimum performance. There are 12 rooms in total and peak usage periods like Sunday mornings, 30 to 35 devices connect the router. The performance is very poor. The box of the router says it supports over 200 connected Wi-Fi devices. Should this happen? I am perplexed!

I think you are stretching your Wi-Fi router beyond its limits in this situation. Especially with a single access point, you should be thankful if you can get any work done over the internet. The 200 figure on your router box is hypothetical. It would require military level internet signal to support 200 devices on one access point. The best way to uplift the performance is to add multiple access points to the network. This serves in considerably cutting down the load on the network. If you add multiple access points, the network can support practically any number of connected devices. But then again, managing such a network is not an easy task. Hope this clears your confusion to some extent. All the best!
