Thin client computing offers big savings, report shows
An IDC case study has revealed that deploying desktop virtualisation systems can lead to big savings, and an ROI of up to 466 percent.

Investing in desktop virtualisation systems can save organisations swathes of money, according to a recent IDC case study.

Companies which purchased a thin client for their business received a 466 percent return on investment, the research shows.

The average investment cost was just $260 per user, a figure which includes the cost of hardware, software installation and training.

The companies spent around 88 percent less per user on thin clients than regular clients, and even spent 85 percent per user less on software.

This investment was made back by, on average, 10.7 months.

These figures are so promising that IDC believes the days of the traditional PC are numbered.
