Lexmark's execution is a little disappointing on the P310. We don't like its slow access time when reading memory cards, nor do we think the omission of an output tray is a good idea. We also don't like this unit's print quality and its high cost per page.

While the Lexmark P315 is easy enough to use, it is mediocre in every other area.

Although it isn’t the most stylish printer out there, the PM270 prints fairly fast and produces decent quality. It won’t fit in your backpacking luggage, but for the average family photographer, the PM270 is portable enough to take away on holidays.

The HP A626 delivers plenty of bang for your buck. With enough photo-editing and enhancing features to keep the kids occupied, the easy-to-use HP A626 produces crisp, colour-rich prints. Pity about the drying time, though.

The DPP-FP70 is a good all-around snapshot printer, offering plenty of features, fast printing, and a decent design. But Sony products are rarely the least expensive available, and this device is no different.

The Sony Picture Station DPP-FP55 produces reasonable quality prints at a low cost per print making it a wise choice and value buy.

The 7760 prints terrific colour and black-and-white glossy photos, making it a good choice for users who don't mind swapping ink cartridges frequently.

The Lexmark P450 offers home users the convenience of printing from a wide variety of media sources and doesn’t require a PC to use. It is let down by slow printing, slow burning and the cost of additional adapters.

Excellent print results and reasonable running costs for a dye-sublimation printer mean this unit is hard to beat if you are after photo-lab quality prints.

The Samsung SPP-2040 is a very pretty little device that would suit anyone looking for a simple solution for making prints of their digital photo collection from the comfort of their home office.

The Photo Easy 260 is a commendable entry into the photo printer market but needs a little work to knock out the competition.
