If you're a heavy PSP user with wads of cash to blow, need the external mic or want to play games on a standard TV, the PSP 3000 is the sleeker, visually crisper twin to last year's model. If you're an original PSP owner and skipped the PSP 2000, you'll see an even more dramatic difference upgrading. But if you're already rolling with a PSP 2000, your money's better saved than spent on this nominal uptick.

Vicarious Visions has managed to do what many thought impossible — translate the fun of Guitar Hero to the Nintendo DS. It wont let you live out your axeman fantasies, and the control scheme can be downright painful, but nevertheless, Guitar Hero: On Tour is better than it has any right to be. Highly recommended.

For those who are fairly sporty anyway, the Wii Fit may end up more of a check-and-balance device rather than a full-on trainer, as it seems not to have endurance tests and actively slowed us down when jogging. For all that, it's a brilliant idea. Wii approve.

The Xbox 360 Elite is an attractive new shell for an already impressive gaming console. We would have liked to see the new features handled a little better but overall, it's still the same as the original Xbox 360.

The Wii's ridiculously enjoyable titles and innovative, motion-sensitive controllers help make it feel more like a toy you'll want to share with a group of players than a console you'd use strictly on your own for hours on end. If you have a group of friends at the ready, or if you're looking to buy an affordable, fun console for yourself or your kids, get yourself a Wii.
