Acer's TravelMate C312XMi is a great device if you're after a notebook first and tablet PC second. The relatively low screen resolution impedes its handwriting recognition.

Fujitsu's flagship tablet has a number of clever features to help it appeal to the mobile crowd. A long warranty and good battery life make it ideal for a road warrior, but it's a little slow for the demanding power user.

The ThinkPad X41 Tablet has excellent security and battery life, and is very mobile.

This unit doesn't come cheap and for the price you might expect better performance. However, its battery life was excellent and it's a well designed machine with good functionaility.

If you need a notebook that can also double as a tablet PC and won't be moving around too much, the R20 is a great choice.

It's rare to find a notebook as versatile as the LifeBook P1610. There are certainly compromises to be made for its tiny frame and convertible design, but if blistering performance isn't essential, the P1610 is well worth a look.

This unit is clearly not built for performance, but manages to do the basics with some serious style. Its cool operating temperature makes it comfortable to use over extended periods and we liked the responsive tablet controls.

For users wanting more than just a notebook, this tablet-convertible PC is well-priced and does a very good job of recognising handwriting, whether cursive or printed. But its battery life is no good at all.

The Fujitsu LifeBook T1010 is a good tablet notebook that doesn't do enough to truly shine. A middling performance from the hardware and a few small nagging issues such as noticeable lag when using the pen on the screen detract from a versatile and attractive device.
